The new Nissan Juke at J&J Motors
Released in 2010, the Nissan Juke was a trailblazer, offering drivers who like the size and cost of small hatches the chance to have some of the bigger boy style and attitude of an SUV. With over a million first gen Juke’s sold and a handful of competitors bringing out what some might call “their version”, the wait for a new Juke is over!
The second generation Juke is more grown up, bigger inside and is packed with features and design features that fans of the first generation are sure to love.
What’s New?
Although Nissan have succeeded in keeping the feel and look of the original Juke the car has been fully updated and has moved from a rounder, buggy like car to a to a sharper and racier looking car and we love it.
Key design elements you notice when you look at the Juke include the “floating” contrast colour roof, the larger V-Motion grille, innovative new high-tech y-beam and the sharp lines and angles that give the juke a real sporty appeal.
What’s powering the Juke?
All Juke’s feature a DIG-T 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine with 117ps which is light and efficient and delivers a surprising amount of pull to make the car feel nippier than its size should allow for.
Keeping you on the road are a selection of 16”, 17” and at the top of the range, 19” alloy wheels whilst a precise and agile feeling suspension setup blends the need for a comfortable ride with sharp handling when cornering.
Driving the Nissan Juke.
But it’s not just looks that have changed, the Juke has been filled with features to enhance the drive! Nissan ProPILOT is a suite of driver assistance technologies that transform the driving experience and include adaptive cruise control that monitors traffic in front to slow you down (to a top if required) and accelerate when the road is clear. Lane assist will also gently steer the car to keep you in the centre of your lane, even on small bends.
With Intelligent Mobility, you are safe in the knowledge the Juke is paying attention and is ready to jump in if it sense you need help. The car monitors your speed and distances and will tell you if you need to leave larger gap. In the event of an imminent collision, the Juke is also ready to perform emergency braking for you to avoid or reduce the impact of a frontal collision and monitors for pedestrians and cyclists.
Another feature included is blind spot intervention, with warnings being given if the car detects a vehicle in your blind spot. It will even brake slightly if it feels you haven’t paid attention to the warning and action is necessary.
One of the features we were very impressed with is high beam assist, which will automatically turn of your high beam if a car is headed in the opposite direction and turn them on when you need them, excellent for long late night journeys!
Inside the new Juke.
Jumping into the Juke is a pleasure. The new interior looks stylish and sleek, even in lower models where the seats are cloth instead of faux or real leather as is seen in higher spec models.
All new Nissan Juke’s get sporty Monoform seats that hug you corners and are comfortable on the motorway. These eventually gain real leather and integrated Bose speakers in the top of the range models.
An 8” infotainment screen floats above the dash, providing you with sat nav and a host of options, whilst a 7” driver assist display constantly keeps the driver up to date with speeds, road signs and aware of any cars/pedestrians/cyclists it senses.
Again, as you move up the spec list, you can choose different colour interiors to add even more style to the cockpit which feels more like a sports coupe than a crossover or SUV, aided by ambient lighting which can be adjusted to your liking. Depending on your model, you can even benefit from heated seats, door mirrors, windscreen and rain sensitive wipers are available to further enhance what is a hospitable interior.
